How the Calculation Works
Zimbabwe uses a progressive tax system. This means only the portion of income within each band is taxed at that band’s rate, not your entire income. For example, if you earn $36,000:
- First $1,200 is tax-free
- Next $2,400 ($1,201–$3,600) is taxed at 20% = $480
- Next $8,400 ($3,601–$12,000) is taxed at 25% = $2,100
- Next $12,000 ($12,001–$24,000) is taxed at 30% = $3,600
- Next $12,000 ($24,001–$36,000) is taxed at 35% = $4,200
- Subtotal: $10,380
- AIDS levy: $10,380 × 3% = $311.40
- Total tax: $10,691.40
